Local Information

Being only 15 miles from Henley-on-Thames, Chalgrove is an ideal base to visit

The Henley Royal Regatta which takes place at the end of June beginning of July or

the Henley Festival which follows. Henley and many other places along the River

Thames are a pleasure to visit at any time of the year

Chalgrove is an ideal base for walkers being located a short drive from the Chilterns

and not far away from the Cotswolds. A section of the Ridgeway, Britain’s oldest road, is nearby. The whole trail is 137 km (85 miles) long, much of it following the ancient chalk

ridge route used by prehistoric man. The Ridgeway offers the chance to get away from

the bustle of life. Perfect but not too strenuous for long distance use, this trail is also

ideal for day trips or less.

Blenheim Palace, the ancestral home of the Churchills and the birthplace of

Sir Winston, is approximately half an hour away. Building commenced in 1705 and

the Palace is now home to the present Duke of Malborough.
